All funds raised will go to Charity. The Sunride is an annual event begun by Aquarius owner, Wayne Kelley, as a way to give back to the community. Each year a local charity which serves the LGBT community is chosen as the recipient. This year at the request of Wayne’s daughter Melissa, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, the funds will be given to The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. The Sunride kicks off at Club Aquarius, 135 E. 2nd Street, in downtown Dayton, on Saturday, September 24th, at 11 am. Registration that day will begin at 10 a.m. The cost to register is $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for students and riders under eighteen years of age. Participants sixteen and under must have an adult with them. The Sunride will run almost a 20 mile course using the Five River Metroparks Bicycle paths, with water and snack stops provided along the route. Riders and volunteers will be treated to a cookout at Club Aquarius following the ride. This is a bike-a-thon, so pledges are required, but bicycles are not. Participants can ride a bike, walk, or rollerblade. Individuals and groups of all ages are encouraged. Pledge forms can be picked up at Club Aquarius at 135 E. 2nd Street, Dayton, OH 45402.
