When:  19 - 26 June 2010

Where:  Logan - McConnelsville - Marietta - Athens - McArthur - Logan

Ride Description: GOBA 22: It's not your grandmother's quilt trip! Oh, it's so much more ... revel in the rolling scenery of our Appalachian countryside. Dance to the rhythms of fiddles, washboards, and dulcimers. Let your dreams flow like the mighty rivers paralleling our bike routes. And of course, come to appreciate the quilt pattern as tradition but with a twist: it's now an exalted art form as well as a rustic landscape backdrop.

The good folks of southeastern Ohio are sewing up a patchwork of experiences for you on GOBA-22. Bring your tent, your family, and your bike and get ready for the trip!

GOBA is a project of Columbus Outdoor Pursuits, a volunteer-based participatory organization created to provide opportunities and education for outdoor recreation and activities.

DCC SAG:  The Minards are once again organizing a sag wagon to accompany Dayton Cycling Club members and friends on GOBA from June 19-26.

The cost is $50 per person. This guarantees participants space on a rental truck for several bags of gear plus a lawn chair. In addition, we will provide ice-cold drinks and light snacks after each day’s ride, and a tarp-shaded group camping spot in GOBAville. Note that we do not provide morning coffee or guarantee tailwinds, down hills or closeness to toilets or showers.

Participants must register separately with Columbus Outdoor Pursuits to ride GOBA (see www.goba.com) and provide us with their GOBA number as proof that they are registered riders.

The DCC sag service is limited to 100 people and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals interested in using the sag service are not considered registered until we have an application and check in hand.

GOBA 22 starts in Logan and will be hilly. This year’s route goes from Logan to McConnelsville, Marietta (two nights), Athens (two nights), McArthur and Logan, averaging 50 miles a day.

If anybody is interested in driving the truck for a day or two, please let us know ASAP.  Also, we will need a volunteer or two to help prepare the truck for the trip on Friday evening, June 18.  Again, please contact us if you can help.

To register for the DCC’s GOBA sag service, print the registration form below and mail it and your check to us as directed. Each individual must fill out registration.
